Setting up non-premium (cracked) server
Cracking the Minecraft
By default, Minecraft servers run in online mode. That means that only players which have purchased Minecraft (premium players) can join the server. Fortunately, we can change that!
Go to the File Management and open server.properties
file.
Change online-mode=true
to online-mode=false
.
Save File and Restart server.
Now you can join your server with any username.
Securing user accounts
Because anyone can join the server with any username, players can steal each other's accounts. We don't want that! Especially not someone using our username and gaining full control over the server!
We can fix this by using one simple plugin. AuthMeReloaded.
Let's download AuthMeReloaded by clicking here.
Upload it in the plugins
folder.
Restart server.
Players will now be prompted to register and login every time they join!
Adding back Skins
Running a cracked server means giving up Skins... Meaning all players will be Steves or Alexes. Horrible! However, there is a neat plugin called SkinsRestorer, which does exactly as the name suggest - it restores skins on cracked servers!
Download SkinsRestorer from its SpigotMC page, upload inside plugins
folder and restart your server.
Now, you can use /skin PLAYER_NAME
command (replacing PLAYER_NAME
with some premium player's name) to obtain their skin as yours!!
Additionally, if a player's name matches those of a premium player, SkinsRestorer will automatically change their skin to premium player's which they share name with.
